Walking pad error codes: what E01 to E11 mean

One maker in this category publishes its own code list. Here it is verbatim, with our reading kept clearly separate from their wording - and the codes the list does not cover.

KingSmith’s FAQ publishes: E01 drive communication error, E02 motor abnormality, E05 overcurrent protection, E06 motor protection, E08 sensor error, and E10/E11 which clear themselves. Its first step for any E code is to power off for about ten minutes and restart.

The maker's own first step

Before the list, the procedure — because KingSmith publishes one and it applies to every code beginning with E. Quoting the WalkingPad FAQ as read on 2026-08-18:

“If the WalkingPad prompts codes start with ‘E’. It may be caused by the transportation. Please power off the treadmill for about 10 minutes, and then restart, the code may disappear.”

Two details in that are easy to skim past. It is ten minutes, not ten seconds — long enough for things to actually settle rather than a power cycle. And the stated cause is transportation, which is why this is especially worth trying on a machine that has just arrived, just been moved between rooms, or just come back out from under a bed.

The published code list

The codes nobody publishes

The published list covers E01, E02, E05, E06, E08, E10 and E11. It does not cover E03, E04, E07 or E09, and no other maker on this site publishes a code list at all — not UREVO, not Sunny, not Lifepro, not DeerRun.

You will find pages that confidently define the missing codes. They are sourcing each other. We are not going to add to that: a wrong meaning attached to an electrical fault code is worse than an honest blank, because it sends you to fix something that is not broken.

If your machine shows a code that is not above, the order that actually works is: the manual for your specific model, then the manufacturer with the exact code and your serial number, then the retailer if it is within the return window. Which is also the argument for buying from a maker that publishes documentation in the first place. Which brands document their own machines.

What to check before you call support

None of this contradicts the manufacturer’s guidance — it is the set of things worth ruling out in the ten minutes the machine is switched off anyway.

The outlet, not the machine. Try a different wall socket, directly rather than through an extension lead. Motors draw a surge at startup that a thin or overloaded lead handles badly, and a shared circuit is the most common cause of a machine that dies mid-walk. The electrical fault patterns in detail.

The fold, on a folding machine.A machine that folds in half has to keep both halves connected. Unfold it fully, make sure it is flat and seated, and try again — particularly for a communication error, and particularly after the machine has been moved.

Belt tension and lubrication. A dry deck or an over-tight belt makes the motor work harder, and two of the published codes are protective cut-outs triggered by exactly that kind of load. How to check tension without over-tightening, and what lubrication involves.

The remote and its battery. On most machines here the remote is the only control surface, so a dead remote looks like a dead machine. What still works without it.

When to stop rather than reset

Two of the published codes — overcurrent protection and motor protection — are not failures. They are the machine stopping itself because a limit was crossed. That distinction matters, because the instinct is to clear the code and carry on.

If a protective cut-out repeats and nothing has changed, the honest read is that the condition that triggered it is still there. Repeatedly resetting past it is the one thing we would advise against, and it is the scenario where a warranty conversation is worth having early rather than late. Stop and contact the manufacturer rather than restarting if there is a burning smell, visible smoke, a housing that is hot rather than warm, or a new grinding noise alongside the code. Which noise points at which part.

What does E01 mean on a walking pad?

KingSmith's own FAQ lists E01 as a drive communication error — the control side and the drive side are not communicating. Its published first step for any code beginning with E is to power the machine off for about ten minutes and restart it, because the fault may have been caused in transit. If the code persists after that, KingSmith directs you to contact support.

What does E05 mean on a walking pad?

How do you reset a walking pad error code?

KingSmith's published guidance for any code starting with E is: 'Please power off the treadmill for about 10 minutes, and then restart, the code may disappear.' Ten minutes rather than ten seconds — that is the maker's own wording. If the code returns, the FAQ directs you to support for E01, E02, E05, E06 and E08, and states that E10 and E11 resume on their own after a countdown.

My walking pad shows an error code that is not on this list. What now?

The published KingSmith list we found covers E01, E02, E05, E06, E08, E10 and E11. It does not cover E03, E04, E07 or E09, and we are not going to invent meanings for them — plenty of pages will, sourced from each other. Check the manual that came with your specific model, then contact the manufacturer with the exact code. A wrong guess about an electrical fault is worse than no guess.

Do other brands publish error codes?

Not that we found. KingSmith is the only maker on this site running a public error-code list in its own FAQ, which is documentation aimed at people who already own the machine rather than at people about to buy one. For UREVO, Sunny, Lifepro and DeerRun, the code list is whatever came in the box.

Is an error code a reason to stop using the machine?

Two of the published codes — overcurrent protection and motor protection — are the machine stopping itself because something was outside its limits. Repeatedly resetting past a protective cut-out without changing anything is the one response we would advise against. Along with a burning smell, smoke or a hot housing, that is the point to stop and contact the manufacturer rather than to keep restarting.
